The Patient Experience
Upon entering our office, you will be greeted and welcomed . We will request that you complete our new patient forms. This paperwork provides us with your health history and information on your condition. This should take about 5 minutes. We encourage patients to bring in any scans or x-rays that they have of their problem areas with them on their first visit. You can download our New patient form now and bring it completed at your first visit. This will allow you to provide us with all of the relevant information to start the process of getting you back to your best.
Next, you will have a consultation with Simon to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options. This initial visit is designed for Simon to learn more about you, your the nature of your condition, and expectations and to determine how chiropractic care can meet your goals.
After your consultation, Simon will perform a complete chiropractic examination testing your posture, reflexes and flexibility. Other standard neurological, orthopedic, and physical tests may be performed as well. However, nothing will be done in our office without your consent. These tests will help determine if subluxations (misalignments) of the spine or other joints are affecting your health. By the end of the examination we should have a good idea about the issues and how we can work together to achieve your health goals.
Depending on your specific condition, we may take X-rays as well. X-rays help us develop the most effective treatment plan for you, and alert us of any serious spinal conditions. In our clinic, careful analysis leads to precision measurements. This thorough analysis along with your clinical exam findings enables us to provide you with our best recommendations. Most people are amazed once they see their X-rays up close. In some cases, they can even identify their misalignments and degeneration themselves.
Not all patients will require x-rays and we will seek them if they will provide more information that will determine our approach together. We understand that they have a cost in dollars and delay of treatment and do have some inherent risk.
Report of Findings
Once the information is collected and examinations are performed, Simon will give you a detailed report of all findings and answer any questions including:
- What's wrong?
- Can you help me?
- How long will it take?
After reviewing your health history, goals, and examining your spine and X-rays, Simon will discuss recommendations and notify you if your condition requires care with other providers. You will be provided with a pathway to return to health that will map out visit frequency, changes in posture and lifestyle and home exercises.
Once are satisfied with the approach we will take together you can choose to experience your first treatment. This may include spinal adjustments, physical therapy, and/or soft tissue massage. Treatment is interactive, so you can express concerns about the different styles of treatment anytime. Because we are certified in a variety of adjusting techniques, we can choose the most effective approach to enhance your comfort and your results. The treatment approach needs suit the patient and not the other way around.
Most people are comment on how gentle the process was.
Prior to leaving, the doctor will suggest a wellness program to incorporate outside of treatment. If you are in pain when you first come into our office this may include: ice or heat application instructions, certain activities or positions to avoid, and at home exercises and/or stretches. If you desire, we will work with you also to create healthy habits and routines for your lifestyle.
